ART Member and Composer Releases Two New CDs of His Classical Compositions

Alexander Feht, classical composer from Siberia and long-time citizen of the U.S., released two CDs in 2009.

The two new releases are: Arion: Pushkin Songs, vol. 2, which completes his Pushkin cycle, and The Prophet: Lermontov Songs.  Both CDs were recorded in Moscow in P. K. Kondrashin’s studio by distinguished tenor Nikolay Dorozhkin and pianist Sergey Chechyotko.  These two offerings available on Amazon.com are among others earlier released.

For those not familiar with Mr. Feht’s music, here are few excerpts from Amazon Classical Music forum:
“I ordered three CDs of Alexander Feht's songs and have heard the first of them several times; excellent songs deserving to be known in the grand line of Russian melodies, and sung by a Russian tenor with a very wide range, to say the least. I like them and recommend them to others with an interest in this repertoire. They are tonal, moving, and set to great poetry by Poe, Shelley, Lermontov, Pushkin, and others.”
“I've now heard the first six songs of Arion, Disc 1, and am very impressed. They strike me as even more powerful than the songs on Demon. I wish I knew more about Russian songs and poetry but I like them very much. . . .  They are absolutely tonal, triadic, and predominantly diatonic, which I like. The vocal declamation is very strong, even strenuous, but tenor Nikolay Dorozhkin copes heroically and makes a persuasive and strong case for this music. . . .   Sergey Chechyotko is a fine, expressive pianist. These are just first impressions… I think these are extraordinary songs and poetry that I want to know much better.”
