Former Chair of the Department of Art and remains an Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. Dr. Pontynen has been a Smithsonian Fellow, A National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow, and a Heritage Foundation Salvatori Fellow. Articles of his have been published in (among others) ART Ideas, the Art Bulletin, the Field Museum of Natural History Bulletin and the Dictionary of Art.
